STAFF REPORT
The proposed purchase is for One 1500 G.P.M. Fire Pumper, to be utilized in
operations by the Fire Department. At the request of the department, procure-
ment is requested per ordinance number MC-513 Section B-2 approved 4/21/86.
The Section Reads As Follows:
Purchases from a vendor or manufacturer which, through the City's bidding pro-
cedure, or other California government or govermental agency's bidding procedure,
has established a price at which such a vendor or manufacturer is willing to sell
to the City. During such a bid procedure more than one responsive bid must have
been received, and the bid award must have occurred within one year of the City's
issuance of a purchase order.
The purchase price is $152,640.00 per the bid specification F-86-1 dated 1/23/86.
The willingness of the vendor to sell at the January price is due to the ability
of vendor to double up on the production run. It is felt by both the Fire Chief
and Purchasing Agent to be advantageous to the City. To re-bid an engine at this
time would simply result in a higher purchase price.
In this.particular case the vendor has a cut-off date of 5/22/86.
The engine will be for Station 11 and will be funded from certificates of partici-
pation and be repaid by the assessment district formed in the Vanderbuilt/Hospit-
alityarea.
The City has seven Seagrave units currently. The advantages of personnel rotation
on familiar equipment, parts back-up reduction and other value analysis benefits
indicated in the previous staff report of 2/5/86 are currently applicable.
It is therefore recommended the. City purchase the fire engine for Station 11
through exemption B-2 ordinace MC-513.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AWARDING A BID TO THE
SEAGRAVE FIRE APPARATUS INC. FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY OF ONE NEW
1500 G.P.M. FIRE PUMPER TO BE UTILIZED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH SPECIFICATION NO. F-86-1.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ~~YOOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Seagrave Fire Apparatus Inc. is the sole bidder for
the furnishing and delivery of one new 1500 G.P.M. Fire Pumper in accord-
ance with Specification No. F-86-1, at a total cost of $152,640.00; that
such bid is satisfactory and in accordance with Specification F-86-1; pur-
suant to this determination, the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized and
directed to issue a purchase order for said one new 1500 G.P.M. Fire Pumper
to said lowest responsible bidder; and such award shall only be effective
upon the issuance of a purchase order by the Purchasing Agent.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the
