This three county consortium includes all the public libraries in San Bernardino, Riverside and Inyo Counties (fifteen institutions in all). Under the provisions of the California Library Services Act of 1978, each of the participating cities or counties must appoint a representive to the Lay Advisory Board which meets on alternating months to advise on the effective- ness of the system's programs. At their first regular meeting in March, 1979, the Mayor and Common Council appointed Mrs. Kathleen Grossman (Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the San Bernardino Public Library) as the City's representative to the Lay Advisory Board. On December 8, 1970, pursuant to the recommendation of the Library Board of Trustees, the Mayor and Common Council appointed Mr. ~allace Stoebe (President of the Friends Of The Library) to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Grossman. Mr. Stoebe has faithfully served in this capacity with subsequent reappointments by the Mayor and Common Council to date. Unfortunately the law limits his service to two terms of two years each. At their regular meeting of March 13, the Library Board of Trustees recommend- ed Mrs. Kathleen Grossman be appointed for a two year term as the City's repre- sentative to the Inland Library System Lay Advisory Board, and they further recommended Mr. Wallace Stoebe be appointed as her regular alternate in the event her schedule should prohibit her attendance from time to time. Thank you for your continued support of the San Bernardino Publuc Library and the services it offers the community. , <::;:).-:::.. Steve Whitney, City Librarian cc.
