REQU.T FOR COUNCIL AceON STAFF REPORT The horseshoe courts at Perris Hill Park have provided many hours of leisure time activities for the citizens of San Bernardino, particularly the senior citizens. This department continues to have an excellent working relationship with the Horseshoe Club for regular maintenance and upkeep of the horseshoe courts. The club members regularly maintain the courts with the city furnishing materials and equipment and labor for work beyond the capability of the club. The courts are in need of some improvements to bring them up to tournament level. The department proposes to add four courts, bringing the total to 16; install new chain link fencing, install two new 16 ft. player benches, install continu- ous rain gutter on the south shade structure, resurface the asphalt areas adja- cent to all courts; and restripe all courts. All work will be done by city forces of the Public Services Department and Park Division and California Conser- vation Corps workers. This work will upgrade the horseshoe courts to one of the finest in the inland area and will provide a location for local tournaments in which our local Horse- shoe Club will participate. This request has been coordinated with Councilman Reilly. 75-0264
