Council ac~ed to keep operations open until other funding options could be explored. Community Services Depart1lent l:'eClOllJllended. that sturges Center for the Pine Arts be eliminated fl:'om the qeneral tund ~udqet, Clt a cost savings of $83,841. The Council acted to reduce the sturqes OperClting budget to $41,920 tOl:' the rElllainlng six months and dil:'ected .taft to explore other funcHnq options for the Center. The funding was to ~. u.ed tor both personal services and materials and services. On January 29, 1992, thlil Ways and Means COlDllittee reviewed. a proposal to fund sturges center with a collbination of 9eneral and Economic Development funds. For the second. half of the fiscal year, $34,842 will be allocated from the qeneral fund for personnel co.ts, and. $33,180 will be allooated in Economic Development fUnds for materials and Buppli.., for a total operating budget of $68,022.
