Subject:
Authorization to declare Hill Drive a through highway between "F" Street and Mayfield Avenue.
Background:
The City has received several complaints from area residents relative to the lack of stop signs on
several streets that approach Hill Drive in the area of Acacia Avenue. The complainants feel that
traffic along this section of Hill Drive has recently increased thereby making stop signs necessary
on the approaches to its intersections.
The Traffic Engineering section of the Development Services Department evaluated the section of
Hill Drive between "F" Street and Mayfield Avenue. There are five intersections within this
section of Hill Drive including "F" Street, Acacia Avenue, "E" Street, "D" Street, and Mayfield
Avenue.

Recent development in this area has increased traffic volumes along this section of Hill Drive. Staff
feels that installation of stop signs on the approaches to Hill Drive within this area will enhance
traffic safety at these intersections. Staff therefore recommends that Hill Drive between "F" Street
and Mayfield Avenue be declared a through highway. This action will allow staff to install stop
signs on the approaches to Hill Drive within this area.
Financial Imoact:
The estimated cost of $2,500 for installing the new stop signs will come from Account No. 001-
402-5111 (Street Maintenance).
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTlO;\
NO. 655 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION... DESIGNATING CERTAIN
STREETS, OR PORTIONS THEREOF AS THROUGH HIGHWAYS..." AND
DECLARING HILL DRIVE A THROUGH HIGHWAY FROM AND INCLUDING F
STREET TO AND INCLUDING MAYFIELD A VENUE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Resolution No. 655, which designates certain streets. or portions
thereof, as through highways, Section One is amended by adding Subsection (8.1) HILL
DRIVE to read as follows:
"(8.1) HILL DRIVE
(A) From and including "F" Street to and including Mayfield Avenue."
