STAFF REPORT
Subject:
Authorization to implement a 3-hour parking limitation on Auto Center Drive, Show Case Drive
North, and Show Case Drive South in the area of the San Bernardino Auto Center.
Background:
The City received a request to implement 3-hour parking limitation on several streets located
within the San Bernardino Auto Center. The request came from Cathleen McCarthy, the
executive secretary of the San Bernardino AutoCenter Association via the Council Office. The
following are the streets that were requested to be restricted:
· Auto Center Drive between Show Case Drive and Camino Real
· Show Case Drive North between Auto Plaza Drive and Auto Center Drive
· Show Case Drive South between Auto Plaza Drive and Auto Center Drive
There are currently no restrictions on these road segments. The requestor feels that placing a 3-
hour time limit along these streets will eliminate long term parking by employees of the auto
center which will open up on-street parking for potential customers. Parking for employees of
the auto center will be regulated by the individual dealerships.
Public Works Staff evaluated the request. Since the affected business owners concur with the
proposal, staff recommends that the reqliest be approved.
Financial Impact:
The estimated cost of $ 4,200 for installing the 3-hour limited parking signs will come from
Account No. 001-402-5111 (Street Maintenance).
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.

PORTIONS THEREOF..." TO ESTABLISH A THREE HOUR PARKING TIME

SHOW CASE DRIVE SOUTH IN THE AREA OF THE SAN BERNARDINO AUTO

7 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN
8 BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I: Resolution No. 8234, which establishes time limitations on certain
10 streets, or portions thereof, is amended by adding Section SIX AND ONE-HALF to read as
11 follows:

"SECTION SIX AND ONE-HALF. In accordance with Section 10.16.010 of the
13
San Bernardino Municipal Code, it is hereby found and declared that the public convenience and
14
e 15 necessity require that parking be limited to a period of time no longer than three-hours during
16 any twenty-four (24) hour day upon those streets, alleys, or parking facilities, or portions thereof,
17 or other City property hereinafter designated, to wit:

19 (1) Auto Center Drive
20 (A) Between Show Case Drive and Camino Real.
