I , LEAGUE OF CALlFORNtACITIES INLAND EMPIRE DIVISION LEGISLATIVE TASK FORCE MEETING INVITATION Thursday, March 28, 2002 Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Location: Training Room, 2nd Floor (NEW ROOM LOCATION) Rancho Cucamonga City Hall 10500 Civic Center Drive AGENDA ACTION ITEMS A. League Fiscal Initiative Initiative will not move forward in November of 2002. There is the potential to still go forward in the November 2004 election. Discussion on the need to keep the electorate educated. Cities are encouraged to adopt a resolution for the League's Action for Better Cities Volunteer Check-off Program. ACTION: 1. Each city identify four to five large city stakeholders/major city players to hear the city message. Provide to Nancy Cisneros for contact (ncisneros@cacities.org or (909) 377- 7110). 2. To review attached master media list and provide input for additions or deletions. B. Housing 1. SB910/AB2863 Chair Garcia announced letters sent on Task Force support for AB2863/Longville. Plaques of appreciation were presented to Assemblyman Longville and Senator Soto on March 21, 2002 at the Division Dinner. 2. Julie Bornstein Meeting Status of Bornstein of event: A reception is being planned to introduce region elected officials and housing leaders to State Housing Department Director Bornstein in Ontario area. Goal to have plan ready for April meeting and May event. ACTION: Each city requested to send local housing organizations/partners to be included in invitations to event. Send to Nancy Cisneros. -#-35' if!J5/1JeY ~ . ." C. Transportation Darren Kettle discussed recent 210/215 funding. SAN BAG is looking at Garvey Bond to assist funding of 1-215 widening. Garvey Bond would be a back-up plan, should appeal to California Transportation Commission (CTC) for upfront funding fail. This would keep the projects on track. Upcoming Measure I renewal approval by voters depends on having a positive solution for the 1-215 project. Mayor Valles will join SAN BAG in testifying to the CTC. ACTION: Informational Only D. League of California Cities Action Days - Sacramento 1. Make plans to attend May 15th and 16th 2. Report on Joint Legislative Dinner, May 15th with Inland Empire, Desert Mountain, and Riverside Divisions ACTION: RSVP for Joint Legislative Dinner Each city to make personal contact with their local state legislators to attend. E. Legislation 1. AB 680 (Steinberg) Sales Tax Sharing Pilot Program ACTION: Informational Only F. Report on Status of Cities approving Division Priorities ACTION: Informational Only G.
