Agenda Item No. JJ~ CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO -REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Staff Report SUBJECT: Resolution authorizing and directing execution of a Grant of Easement document for Verizon California, Inc., across City-owned property located at Mount Vernon Avenue, North of 10`" Street. The City has previously designated a portion of Mount Vernon Avenue as an underground utility district. In order to comply with the City's request to underground their facilities, Verizon California, Ina (Verizon) approached the property owner south of the City's parcel to negotiate the granting of an easement. The owner declined the offer and Verizon then submitted a request for the execution of a Grant of Easement document across City Water Department property. The property is located at Mount Vernon Avenue, north of 10~' Street and is presently a vacant lot. The scope of work in the easement area would consist of trenching along the south property line of Parcel 0139-103-14 to an existing pole and aerial cable lead located west of Mount Vernon Avenue. The easement will be located along the southerly four (4) feet of the property, and will not have a negative impact on any future use. At the Board of Water Commissioners meeting of October 16, 2001, it was unanimously voted to approve the Grant of Easement document for Verizon. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. The facilities will be installed by Verizon at no cost to the City.
