BACKGROUND The City of San Bernardino Mayor and Council adopted Resolution 2001-74 on April 16, 2001 for the purchase of various vehicles in accordance of Bid Request F-01-48A. Item #002 of the bid request was awarded to Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino for the purchase offive 2002 Full Size Y. Ton Pick Up Trucks and Item #003 was also awarded to Crest Chevrolet for three 2002 % Ton Pick Up Trucks. More than one bid response was received. Notices were received from Crest Chevrolet informing the City of the opportunity to purchase additional model year vehicles at the same bid prices of $16,339.84 plus tax for the Y. Ton Truck and $20,603.38 plus tax for each % Ton Truck, see Attachment 1 and 2. Section 3.04.010, paragraph B.2 of the Municipal Code allows an exemption for purchases competitively bid within one year, for which more than one bid was received, and the vendor has established a set price. The vehicles to be replaced are listed below and are considered an economic burden to maintain in this capacity due to excessive age and/or mileage of vehicles. Most replacement parts for repairs are no longer available or hard to find for these older vehicles. These vehicles will be placed in surplus for auction. RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF PIGGYBACK PURCHASE ORDERS TO CREST CHEVROLET FOR VARIOUS VEHICL~S TO BE UTILIZED BY VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Common Council on April 16, 2001 awarded purchase orders to Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino for the furnishing and delivery of five (5) Full Size Y:z Ton Pick Up Truck; and three (3) 2002 %-Ton Pick Up Trucks: and that Crest Chevrolet has agreed to provide additional purchases of the same vehicles for the same amount; and pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized and directed to issue purchase orders to Crest Chevrolet for one (1) Full Size Y:z Ton Pick Up Truck and for three (3) % Ton Pick Up Trucks, for the total amount of $84,206.60. Such award shall only be effective upon issuance of Purchase Orders by the Purchasing Manager. SECTION 2.
