That the request from the 4th July Committee for FY 2001/02 civic and promotion
funding in the amount of $55,200 be approved.

STAFF REPORT
Subiect:
Request for funding of the 2002 4th July celebration from FY 2001/02 civic and
promotion fund.
Backaround:
The 4th July parade was inaugurated in 2000 by the 4th July Parade committee with
great success. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has
successfully conducted the 4th July celebration since 1990. Both of these events are
free to the public and are expected to attract several thousand visitors and promise to
be an exciting community experience.
FiscallmDact:
The celebration is fully funded from the Civic and Promotion fund. Departmental labor
and overtime costs are also included in the funding; consequently, there are no other
support costs to the City. The total amount of the parade and celebration is estimated
at $55,200. This figure is $3,200 higher than was approved for last year's event.
The increase is reflected in the following areas:
· $1,000 additional for Symphony cost to reflect additional cost anticipated through
conversations with the Inland Symphony.
· $1,000 for signage/decorations not budgeted last year
· $500 for additional sound system rental cost based on last year's bids
. $500 for portable toilets not budgeted last year
· $200 personnel overtime cost based on last year's expenses
Recommendation:
That $55,200 in FY01/02 civic and promotion funding be approved to assist with the
conduct of the 2002 4th July celebration.
