STAFF REPORT
The 1996/97 2000/01 Capital
identifies Federal-Aid STP Funds as being
88% of the total cost for construction

At their meeting of 6-04-97, the San Bernardino
Associated Governnents Board adopted the Surface Transportation
Program (STP) project screening and evaluation criteria for the
valley region. This criteria will be used to allocate the esti-
mated $11 Million available in Federal-Aid STP funds.
Candidate projects for these Federal-Aid STP Funds must
be received by SANBAG no later than 5:00 p.m., Thursday, 7-03-97.
New bridges will need to be constructed across the Lytle
Creek Flood Control Channel, and the East Branch Lytle Creek
Training Channel. In addition, the existing structure on
Foothill Boulevard at Lytle Creek Channel will have to be widened
in order to accommodate the traffic signals to be installed at
the new intersection with State Street.
An amount of $250,000 was allocated in the 1996/97 1/2-9
Sales Tax Budget, under Account No. 129-367-5504-7059, to finance
the cost for preliminary engineering, environmental studies and
right-of-way services. The proposed 1997/98 1/2-9 Sales Tax
Budget includes an amount of $480,000 to finance the 12% local
agency share.
In addition, an amount of $300,000 was allocated in the
1996/97 1/2-9 Sales Tax Budget, under Account No. 129-369-5504-
7060, to finance the cost of extending State Street fron the
present terminus at 14th Street to Base Line Street.

that it has the resources connitted to naintain the

We recommend that authorization be granted to submit the
candidate form and a certification nade that resources have been
committed for maintenance.
URGENCY CLAUSE:
This item must be considered at the Council meeting of 6-16-97,
since the next regular meeting is after the deadline of 7-03-97
for submittal of candidate projects.
