CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
It is requested that the Mayor and Common Council approve the Cooperative/Piggyback
Purchase of four (4) 1/2 Ton Mini Pick-Up Trucks. The vehicles identified for replacement are
two (2) mid-size and two (2) compact sedans. The Fleet Manager recommends replacement with
mini pick-ups. Mini pick-ups are appropriately suited for the applications and will result in
operational and maintenance savings. The replacement vehicles have surpassed their serviceable
life, have become an economic burden to maintain and are unreliable. . The vehicles scheduled
for replacement are listed below:

Notices inviting bids for four (4) 1997 1/2 Ton Mini Pick-up trucks, Bid No. F-97-09-C, were sent to 23
vendors; eight (8) sealed were received and were opened on December 3,1996. The results are as follows:

The cost and technical specifications of all bids were reviewed and the low bid of Crest Chevrolet was
found to be acceptable and met or exceeded all items called for in the specification. During tile Council
Meeting of January 27, 1997 the Mayor and Common Council autl10rized a purcl1ase based on tI1is bid.
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council autllorize the Purchasing Manager to issue
a Cooperative/Piggyback Purchase Order for tile amount of $57,808.01 to Crest Chevrolet to purchase
four (4) 1997 Chevrolet 1/2 Ton Mini Pick-Ups.
