Clark, City Clerk February 4, 1997 Resolution of the City of San Bernardino Appointing Election Officers and Designation of Polling Places Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 12286 for the Special Municipal Election to be held March 18, 1997 Elections Code Section 12286 requires that at least 29 days before an election, the elections official shall establish a convenient number of election precincts, designate polling places, and appoint precinct boards consisting of a minimum of one inspector and two clerks for each precinct. The Elections Code further requires that not less before the election, a list of the polling places board members appointed be published. than one week and precinct Monday, Feburary 17, 1997, is the 29th day before the March 18, 1997 Special Election; therefore, the attached Resolution appointing election officers and designating polling places needs to be adopted to meet the stated deadlines. There will be 73 polling places for the March 18th election. The locations of those polling places are listed on the attached Resolution as well as the names of those being appointed to serve on the respective precinct boards. In the past the Elections be staffed by a minimum of judge, and two clerks. As shall consist of a minimum costs of staffing precinct code required that each precinct board four persons, i.e., one inspector, one of January 1, 1997, the precinct board of three persons, thereby reducing the boards. . Funds for rental of polling places as well as precinct board costs have been included in the Special Municipal Elections budget and I recommend that the Mayor and Common Council adopt the attached resolution.
