STAFF REPORT
It is requested that the Mayor and Common Council approve the
procurement of one (1) animal control truck for the Animal Control
Department. The Vehicle Replacement Fund provides for the
replacement of one (1) 1988 animal control truck. The 1988
Chevrolet, Unit No. 0694 animal control truck has become an
economic burden to maintain with a cost per mile of $.29, has
accrued approximately 121,400 miles and is unreliable.
Notices inviting bids for a 1997 animal control truck, Bid No. F.-
97-16-A, were sent to 28 vendors; twelve (12) sealed bids were
received and opened on January 30, 1997. The results are as
follows:

The cost and technical specifications of all bids were reviewed.
The low bid of Crest Chevrolet was found to be acceptable and met
or exceeded all items called for in the specification.
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the
Purchasing Manager to issue a purchase order for the amount of
$28,462.12 to Crest Chevrolet to purchase a 1997 Animal Control
Truck.
