STAFF REPORT
It is requested that the M~yor and Common Council approve the
procurement of three (3) mini-vans for the Police Department and
Public Services Department. The Vehicle Replacement Fund provides
for the replacement of two (2) 1987 Ford Taurus station Wagons
assigned to the Police Department. One of the Ford Taurus station
Wagons (0071) was in a traffic collision and totaled. The other
station Wagon (0079) has over 124,000 miles and has become
unreliable and an economic burden to maintain. One (1) additional
vehicle is required by the Public Services Department for the
Recycling Program and funding is included in the fiscal year 96/97
Refuse budget. This van will be used daily to monitor tire
vendors, distribute used oil collection materials, transport
educational material to schools, neighborhood meetings, and other
locations for educational purposes. The vehicles scheduled for
replacement are listed below:

Notices inviting bids for three (3) 1997 m~n~-vans, Bid No. F-97-
09-A, were sent to 23 vendors; seven (7) sealed bids were received
and opened on December 3, 1996. The results are as follows:

The cost and technical specifications of all bids were reviewed.
The low bid of Robert H. Loud Ford was found to be acceptable and
met or exceeded all items called for in the specification.
It is recommended that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the
Purchasing Manager to issue a purchase order for the amount of
$50,349.30 to Robert H. Loud Ford to purchase three (3) 1997 Ford
Aerostar Mini-Vans.
