Back2round: Staffs of the Police and Parks & Recreation Department have stated that they have observed illegal activities taking place on 6th Street east of Sierra Way adjacent to Seccombe Lake Park. According to the complainants, motorists park in this area of 6th Street throughout the day, drinking, loitering, and leaving trash behind. Additionally, there is a concern that emergency vehicles may not be able to adequately respond to a call in the park as vehicles are constantly parked within this area obstructing access. Traffic Engineering staff evaluated the concerns and confirmed the complainants' claims. To help resolve this situation, staff is proposing to install a No Parking zone within this section of 6th Street. Currently, parking is only prohibited overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Both the Police and Parks & Recreation Departments concur with this recommendation. There is sufficient off-street parking around the park the area; consequently, the proposed action will not adversely affect parking availability. Financial Impact: The estimated cost of $ 1,000.00 for installing the new "No Parking" signs will come from Account No. 001-187-5111 (Signing and Striping Materials) Recommendation: Adopt Resolution.
