STAFF REPORT
The Engineering Division was requested to establish a
speed limit on "K" Street between Mill Street and Rialto Avenue.
A Traffic Engineering study was conducted to develop a recom-
mended speed zone.
The study found that the critical speed on "K" Street
varies between 37 and 40 miles per hour. Based on the data
accumulated by the study, we recommend that a 35 mile per hour
speed limit be established on "K" Street between Mill Street and
Rialto Avenue.
Establishment of a 35 mile per hour speed limit satisfies
the criteria whereby Police and other agencies may use radar to
enforce the speed limit.
The Traffic Safety Committee has reviewed the request and
has concurred with the staff's recommendation to establish a 35
mile per hour speed limit on "K" Street between Mill Street and
Rialto Avenue.

2 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING SECTION
10.52.020 OF THE SAN BERNARDINO MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING A
3 SPEED ZONE ON "K" STREET OF THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR BETWEEN
MILL STREET AND RIALTO AVENUE.

SECTION 1.
Section 10.52.020 of the San Bernardino
7 Municipal Code is amended to read:

"10.52.020 THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR
In accordance with and pursuant to the authority of
10 Sections 22357, 22358, and 22360, of the California Vehicle Codp.,
11 the Mayor and Common Council do hereby determine and declare,
12 upon the basis of an Engineering and Traffic Investigation, that
13 the Prima Facie Speed Limi,.t of thirty-five miles per hour shall
