PUBLIC COMMENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL ON AUGUST 16, 1993 REGARDING THE
EDGEHILL VILLAGE HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION.
MY NAME IS SHAWN ULESKE AND I AM PRESIDENT OF THE EDGEHILL VILLAGE
HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
THE RESTORATION OF A GREENBELT BEHIND THE GARAGES OF OUR CONDOMINIUM
COMPLEX WILL CAUSE EXTREME FINANCIAL HARDSHIP TO THE 276 HOMEOWNERS OF
EDGEHILL VILLAGE AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT EVEN IF THE AREA WAS
RESTORED THAT IT COULD BE PROTECTED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AS WAS
EVIDENCED IN THE 1985 FIRE. AT THAT TIME, WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TURN ON
OUR IRRIGATION SYSTEM BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE GREEN BELT WAS
DESTROYED.
AS A RESULT, I WOULD LIKE TO READ THE FOLLOWING PETITION SIGNED BY
HOMEOWNERS AND TENANTS OF EDGEHILL VILLAGE INTO THE RECORD:
'WE, THE UNDERSIGNED WHO ARE HOMEOWNERS AND/OR RESIDENTS AT EDGEHILL
VILLAGE HOA. ASK THE CITY COUNCIL TO WAIVE THE FIRE DEPARTMENTS
REQUIREMENT TO GREENBELT THE AREA BEHIND THE GARAGES. THE ASSOCIATION
PROMISES TO PERFORM WEED ABATEMENT AS NECESARY TO MINIMIZE FIRE HAZARD.
IF THE FIRE MARSHALL INSISTS ON THE GREENBELT, THEN WE REQUEST THAT THE
CITY HELP PAY THE COST TO RESTORE THAT AREA AND PROVIDE FIRE PROTECTION
FOR THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM, PLANT GROWTH, AND STRUCTURES."
