HomeMy WebLinkAbout3943ORDINANCE NO. 3943 ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING ORDI~ANCE NO. 1987 ENTITLED IN PART "AN ORDINANCE . REGULATING THE OPERATION OF TAXICABS, AMBULANCES . . ."; AND PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF DIALYSIS PATIENTS. THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 1987, Section One, Subsection (a), Paragraph 13 is amended to read: "13. 'Medical Transportation' means the transportation for hire, except by taxicab, of any passengers who may be wounded, sick, injured, ill, incapacitated, infirm, an expectant mother, or dead person, to or from any office, facility or institution which regularly offers any type of medical care or service." SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 1987, Section One, Subsection (a) is amended by adding Paragraph 23 to read: "23. 'Dialysis Transportation Vehicle' means any pri- 'vately owned motor vehicle which is equipped and used exclusive- ly for the purpose of medical transportation of passengers re- quiring treatment for instage renal disease at any licensed Hemo-dialysis Unit." SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 1987, Section One, Subsection (a) is amended by adding Paragraph 24 to read: "24. 'Medical Transportation Vehicle' means any vehicle included in the definition of an ambulance, a dialysis transporta-I tion vehicle or a wheelchair passenger transportation vehicle, whiJh is used for medical transportation." i , SECTION 4. Ordinance No. 1987, Section Four, Subsection i (b) is amended by adding Paragraph 6 to read: I "6. SECTION 5. Ordinance No. 1987, Section Nine, Subsection (a) is amended to read: "(a) TOWING, AMBULANCE AND MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES. No carrier which operates towing vehicles, ambulances, i wheelchair passenger transportation vehicles or dialysis transporl- tat ion vehicles shall operate, or permit to be operated, any i vehicle, under the provisions of this ordinance, unless and until such vehicle is covered by public liability insurance of not less than $50,000.00 for the injury or death of one person, and $100,000.00 for the injury or death of two or more persons in anyone accident, and property damage insurance of not less than $10,000.00 for anyone accident, and the policy of such insurance or a certificate thereof, in an insurance company approved by the Bureau, has been filed with the Bureau. Such policy or certificate shall set forth with particularity the make, number and other identifying data of each vehicle covered by such policy, together with the expiring date of such policy, and other required information." SECTION 6. Ordinance No. 1987, Section Forty-Three, is amended by adding Subsection (3) to read: "(3) Dialysis Transportation Vehicle rates: (a) Response to call, the rates established by the Hedi-cal Program of the State of California. (b) Each mile or fraction thereof, the rates established by the Medi-Cal Program of the State of California."
