No.) Finance: Council Notes: ~ -JJ;2W3> 221&' Aaenda Item No. J5 10 1~/()3 CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Staff Report Subject: Resolution of the City of San Bernardino authorizing the Purchasing Manager to sell surplus emergency lighting equipment to the County of San Bernardino's 800 MHz Group. Background: The City of San Bernardino has been storing old surplus overhead emergency light-bars for several years. These light-bars were retired from service when the police and fire vehicles that they were on were retired. Many of these light-bars are not functional and have no resale value. Currently, there are over twenty of these devices in storage. The Police and Fire Departments have no desire to rehabilitate these devices. The Fleet Manager has indicated that he has no use for these items. The County of San Bernardino's 800 MHz Group learned that we were preparing to dispose of these items. They indicated that they could use the devices for parts and might be able to fix them so that they could be used on auxiliary fire apparatus used by the County Fire Department. Selling this surplus equipment to the County 800 MHz Group for one dollar ($1.00) may assist other public safety agencies in keeping older equipment in service during this tight budget period. San Bernardino Municipal Code section 3.04.100 permits this action with the authorization of the Mayor and Common Council. Financial Impact: None.
