Dear Mayor-Elect Morris:
Congratulations on your successful mayoral campaign. I extend my best
wishes to you in your endeavors to improve our troubled city and you certainly
have my support.
I was appointed to the Police Commission by Mayor Valles in 2001 and
just finished a term as Chairman. I am currently the Vice-Chair of the
Commission. As you begin your administration, I would appreciate you
considering me as one of your appointees to the Commission. The following is a
summary of my background:
. Born and raised in San Bernardino, I graduated from St. Bernardine High
School and San Bernardino Valley College. In 1999, I retired from the City of
San Bernardino (Library) after nearly 44 years.
. As a single mom, I raised two sons who have given me three grandsons. (I
had two other sons who died in childhood).
. I have always been an active volunteer in the community. 'In addition to
serving on the Police Commission, I am President of the Del Rosa
Neighborhood Action Group (better known as DR NAG). I am a Life Member
of Soroptimist International of San Bernardino and have served on the Board
of Directors of 1st Valley Credit Union (formerly City Employees Credit Union)
for nearly 40 years. I am a member of the local parlor of the Native Sons of
the .Golden West (their first female member).
. Through my community involvement, I am in contact with all segments of our
city and would continue to represent the citizens to the best of my ability
should you choose to reappoint me to the Commission.
