Background: Competitive bid #F03-007 for "Flat Screen Monitors" was published by the Purchasing Department on August 14, 2002. It was sent to the San Bernardino Chamber of Commerce, and was advertised in the San Bernardino Sun newspaper and on the Internet. Twenty-one vendors responded. Vendor Transit Point Micro Supply Novanis Wintec Microlink ICON Microsystems Multiwave/CL T Computers Inland Computers Americus Tech Information Mgmt System Marketware Tech Vendor Customer Computer Spec COW Government Custom Fit Imagine Systems En Point Tech SDF Computers GE Capital IT Solutions TV Magic, Inc LA Computer Center Computer Options The bids received from these vendors were only valid for 90 days and have expired. Prices for flat screen monitors have dropped substantially since these bids were received, and it is expected that the new bids will be significantly lower. Municipal Code section 3.04.070E states that, "At its discretion, the Mayor and Common Council shall have the power to reject any and all bids presented and re- advertise for bids'. Staff is therefore requesting authorization to reject all bids submitted under Bid No. F-03-007, and to authorize the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these monitors. Recommendation: That the Mayor and Common Council reject all bids received in response to Bid No. F- 03-007; and authorize the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these monitors.
