Background: This project consists of constructing ADA access ramps at intersections and fill-in sidewalk around school areas. These selected areas have been identified from several sources such as the "School of the Month" program and in response to constituents registering their concerns regarding safe pedestrian access for children. Currently some of the project locations do not have access ramps from the street to the sidewalk while other locations have portions of sidewalk missing. Staff has confirmed that the areas affected are experiencing substantial foot traffic to and from the schools involved. This project will improve pedestrian access to a number of schools within the City: Area No. I Area No.2 Area NO.3 Area No.4 Area NO.5 Area No.6 Area No.7 Aquinas High School Harmon Kendall & Carmack Elementary School San Bernardino High School Urbita Elementary School Sierra Way and 4th Street Sierra Way and 5th Street Bradley Elementary School (Crestview & Baseline) Sidewalk and Access Ramp Sidewalk and Access Ramps Sidewalks and Access Ramps Sidewalks and Access Ramp Access Ramps Access Ramps Access Ramps Plan and specifications for this project are complete.
