change of Pepper Linden Drive to Campus Parkway, and that a public hearing to consider the
matter, be set for May 5, 2003 at 4:00 p.m.

Staff Report
SUBJECT:
Authorization to Proceed - proposed street name change - Pepper Linden Drive as dedicated
across various tracts and subdivisions and its proposed extension to Campus Parkway.
BACKGROUND:
Portions of Pepper Linden Drive were dedicated across various tracts and subdivisions,
specifically on Parcel Map 5931 and along the northwesterly side of Tracts 14185 and 10649.
It was further proposed to be extended northeasterly from Kendall Drive to Northpark
Boulevard. None of the street improvements have been built, but the first phase will consist of
the portion between Kendall Drive and Northpark Boulevard. A section of this extension will be
across City Water Department property and staff is in the process of acquiring the remaining
right-of-way.
Since the first phase will primarily serve as access to and from California State University, it is
proposed (and supported by the Administration Department ofCSUSB), that the street be
renamed to Campus Parkway, to better identify with the University. Although the portion of the
street southwesterly of Kendall Drive is not proposed to be built as part of this phase, staffis
further recommending that the entire alignment of Pepper Linden Drive be renamed to Campus
Parkway at this time.
There are no present property addresses that will be affected. If authorization to proceed is given,
various City departments will be contacted for comments or conflicts, the results of which will
be presented in summary at the public hearing. At that meeting, and after the public hearing, a
resolution for the street name change will be presented for your consideration. Since this is a
City initiated proposal, the normal $500 processing fee will not be collected.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Processing fee of $500 will not be collected since this proposal is City initiated. Staff time for
processing the name change will be charged to the project Work Order No. 126-369-5016-7007.
RECOMMENDA nON:
Staff recommends that authorization to proceed with the proposed name change be given.
