Background: This project consists of installing a new sewer main in Court Street between "E" Street and "D" Street. The existing main is approximately 33 years old and it was evaluated by video, revealing several breaks and two areas of "sagging". This new main will alleviate ponding in the sag areas and any related odor problems. The new sewer main will be installed parallel to the existing sewer main and the existing sewer laterals "cut over" to the new sewer main. Plan and specifications for this project are complete. The project is ready to be awarded. The estimated project costs are as follows: Construction Cost $56,562.80 Continl!encies $ 8,484.42 Desil!n, Inspection, and Contract Administration $ 8,452.78 Total $ 73,500.00 This project was advertised locally in the San Bernardino County Sun Newspaper, Construction Trend Newspaper, the City's web site, and with the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce. Financial Impact: Funding for this project in the total amount of $80,000.00 in Account No. 245-365-5504-7314 for sewer improvements in Court Street between "E" Street and "D" Street has been included in the FY 2002/2003 budget. Nikola Construction Corporation dba Nikola Corporation is the lowest 8 9 responsible bidder for sewer improvements on Court Street, between "E" Street and "D" 10 11 12 13 Street. A contract is awarded accordingly to said bidder in a total amount of $56,562.80 with a contingency amount of $8,484.42 but such award shall be effective only upon being fully executed by both parties. All other bids, therefore, are hereby rejected. The Mayor is hereby 14 authorized and directed to execute said contract on behalf of the City; a copy of the contract is 15 on file in the Office of the City Clerk and incorporated herein by reference as fully as though 16 set forth at length. 17 18 19 effect or become operative until fully signed and executed by the parties and no party shall be SECTION 2. This contract and any amendment or modifications thereto shall not take 20 obligated hereunder until the time of such full execution.
