Staff Report
Subject:
A resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Crest Chevrolet of San
Bernardino for a 2007 2500HD Ex!. Cab Chassis complete with new animal control
body to be utilized by the Animal Control Department.
Background:
The Animal Control Department Field Division utilizes unit #691, a 1998 Chevy 3500
with 149,103 miles for animal control on a daily basis. The cost to maintain this eight-
year-old truck has increased with age, and use, and the animal control body is beyond
repair and has already been refurbished once. Because of these factors, in conjunction
with the increased downtime, this truck meets all the criteria for replacement. This unit
is included on the FY 2005/2006 approved Vehicle Replacement List; therefore, unit
#691 will be placed in surplus for auction.
Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino, will act as primary vendor for this purchase; there
are no local body dealers for this particular equipment. Cobra Truck Body of Los
Angeles, Ca, will install a new animal control body. Through a negotiated purchase as
referenced in section 3.04.070-1 of the Municipal Code the City has been offered the
negotiated price of $37,717.46, including tax from Crest Chevrolet (see Exhibit I).
Financial Impact:
Funds for this purchase are available in FY2005/2006 Account No. 635-341-5701 Motor
Vehicles.
Recommendation:
Adopt resolution.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER
TO CREST CHEVROLET OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR A 2007 2500HD EXTENDED
CAB CHASSIS COMPLETE WITH NEW ANIMAL CONTROL BODY TO BE
UTILIZED BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT FIELD DIVISION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Crest Chevrolet has offered the negotiated price for a 2007
2500HD Extended Cab Chassis complete with new Animal Control Body. Pursuant to
this determination the Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized to issue a purchase
order to Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino for said purchase in the total amount of
$37,71746
SECTION 2. The Purchase Order shall reference this Resolution No.2006-_
and shall read, "2007 Chevrolet 2500HD Extended Cab Chassis complete with new
Animal Control Body" P.O not to exceed $37,71746 and shall incorporate the terms
and conditions of the purchase order.
SECTION 3. The authorization to execute the above referenced Contract is
rescinded if not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
