Subject:
Resolution of the City of San Bernardino authorizing a FY 200612007 purchase of services with
AT&T for Direct Internet Access.
Background:
The network upgrade that the City Council approved in August of 1997 included addition of
Internet access circuits.
The State of California went to an open bid process for their telecommunications needs. The
contract was awarded to SBC (now merged with AT&T). This award is known as the CaI Net
Contract. The City of San Bernardino bas elected to utilize the CaI Net contract pricing for frame
relay services and AT&T has agreed to honor the CaI Net pricing for the City.
Financw Impact:
The cost for Direct Internet Access services for FY 200612007 is $31,320.00. This is an increase
ofSl0,440 from the 200512006 fiscal year due to a 50"10 increase in bandwidth requirements. The
charges were included in IT chargebacks to each department with Internet access, and will be
budgeted in IT account #679-251-5502.
Recommendation:

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING A
FISCAL YEAR 2006/2007 PURCHASE OF SERVICES WITH AT&T FOR
DIRECT INTERNET ACCESS SERVICES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That AT&T is the selected source for the City's Direct Internet
Access services. AT&T gained selected source status by being awarded an open bid
contract issued by the State of California. This award is known as the CaI-Net
contract. Pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized
to issue an annual purchase order, in the amount of$31,320.oo, with two single year
renewal options, to AT&T for fiscal year 2006/2007 for the City's Direct Internet
Access services. Future year renewal options shall be contingent upon funds being
approved in the City's budget for this service.
SECTION 2: The authorization to execute the above referenced purchase
order is rescinded if it is not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of
this resolution.
