These areas were either sunken or raised, and constituted a potential hazard from tripping. These deteriorated areas also detracted from the aesthetics of the newly rehabilitated street pavement. The areas identified by the Engineer as in need of replacement were saw-cut, removed, and new concrete installed. The removed concrete was hauled away and disposed of by the contractor, as provided in the Standard Specifications. The contract contains an item for "Miscellaneous Concrete." A 23% reduction in the contract price of $325 per cubic yard was applied to the quantity of concrete in excess of 125% of the bid quantity of 37 cubic yards, in accordance with Section J of the Standard Specifications. The total cost of Change Order No. One is $16,943.75, increasing the contract price from $315,950.15 to $332,893.90. Since this is a Federal-Aid Urban Project, 86% of the cost is eligible to be financed with Federal funds. Caltrans, who administers these Federal-Aid funds for the Federal Highway Administration, has approved this extra work. The total estimated project cost contains an amount of $50,649.85 for contingencies, which can be used to finance the cost for this change order. We recommend that Change Order No. One be approved. 10-12-90 Local Agency Memorandum - CITY OF SAN BERNARDINU o - - - DATEO OCTOBER 11. 1990 FILE: 1.670 Q: FROM: ROY KING JON ROBERTS Contingency Balance (Inc This Change) CCO No -L Rev No _ Sup No $ 33.706.10 s 16.943.75 INCR DECR.
