STAFF REPORT
The City of San Bernardino has received several
complaints from citizens residing in the 1900 block of Waterman
Avenue regarding a parking problem in this area. The problem is
largely caused by the St. Bernardine Medical Center employees,
who prefer to park along Waterman Avenue. Consequently, this
problem has lessened the availability of street parking to the
visitors/patrons of the affected businesses/residents.
A Traffic Engineering investigation verified the
residents' complaints. To resolve this problem, the Traffic
Engineering Section is proposing a 2-Hour Parking Limitation
between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on the west side of Waterman
Avenue, between 19th Street and 21st Street. The proposed
restriction is consistent with the existing parking restriction
on the east side of Waterman Avenue.
The Traffic Engineering Section has notified property
owners and tenants, wi thin the affected area, regarding this
proposal and has received no negative response to this date.
We recommend that the resolution be approved.
