03-05-90 -- Authorization granted to initiate proceedings under
Chapter 12.92 of SBMC for removal and filling in of
15 abandoned driveways.

Parcels No. 134-081-10 and 134-081-22 continued to

Recommended motion:
That the plans for removal and fill-in of abandoned driveway
approaches, under Chapter 12.92 of San Bernardino Municipal Code
(1990-02), be approved; and the Director of Public Works/City
Engineer authorized to solicit price quotes for an informal
purchase order contract.

STAFF REPORT
Authorization was granted at the Council meeting of 3-5-
90 to proceed with the fill-in of 15 abandoned driveways.
A protest hearing was held on 5-7-90. The hearing was
closed and the protests overruled, and it was found and
determined that the improvements were needed for public
convenience and necessity. Also, the Director of Public
Works/City Engineer was directed to cause the installation of
improvements to close abandoned driveways for any parcel for
which the owner had not started construction by 6-8-90, except
for Parcel No. 140-211-47 which was continued to 9-5-90.
Four property owners had not started construction by the
stipulated deadline. Therefore, plans have been prepared for
installation of improvements to close these abandoned driveways.
The estimated construction contract cost for these four parcels
is $2,550. .
In view of the small cost, we intend to solicit price
quotes, and request a purchase order be issued as an informal
contract.
We recommend that the plans be approved and authoriza-
tion granted to solicit price quotes.
