Recommended motion: 1. That 2 positions of Assistant City Administrator (U) be established in the City Administrator's Department with the salary established at Range 4488 $5058-6149. 2. That the positions of Deputy City Administrator and Assistant to the City Administrator be deleted. 3. (from Range 4510, $5645 -$6861/mo.) It is also recommended that the title be changed to Assistant City Administrator. six of the 10 cities surveyed utilized the title Assistant City Manager/Assistant City Administrator as the second in command for the City Manager/city Administrator's Department, whereas only 2 of the 10 cities utilized a "Deputy" title. The salary savings for the downgrade of the Deputy City Administrator to the Assistant City Administrator for fiscal 1990-91 is $13,600 per year including 18% for variable fringe benefits. Part of this reorganization would also entail upgrading the Assistant to the city Administrator to Assistant city Admini- strator with the same salary as recommended above, Range 4488, $5058 - $6149, (from Range 4406, $3360 -$4083). The costs for the upgrade of the second Assistant City Administrator position for fiscal 1990-91 is approximately $14,400. In order to eliminate the impact on the department's budget it is recommended that the incumbent filling the Assistant to the city Administrator position be upgraded effective September 1990, and the other Assistant City Administrator position not be filled until November 1990. Council Personnel committee approved this request on August 9, 1990 and recommend full council approval to establish 2 positions of Assistant City Administrator at Range 4488, $5058 $6149, and to delete 1 position of Deputy City Administrator - Administrative Services and 1 position of Assistant to the City Administrator.
