Recommended motion:

That the Planning Division be directed to coordinate with Public Works
to determine cost and time estimates for the preparation of a special
study to determine if Orange Show Road and its proposed easterly
extension can be relocated or deleted from the Circulation Plan and if
a general plan amendment is required. The Planning Division shall
provide a report to the Mayor and Common Council at their meeting of
August 20, 1990.

with adoption of the General Plan, Orange Show Road and its
easterly extension was designated as a major arterial on the
circulation Plan to provide east-west access in the southern
part of the City (see attached map). Orange Show Road
extends east from its present location between "E" Street and
Arrowhead Avenue, across the Warm Creek flood control channel
and linking up with pioneer Avenue. It then drops
southeasterly across Tippecanoe Avenue to link with San
Bernardino Avenue over to Mountain view Avenue.
The Water Department is considering locating facilities east
of Arrowhead Avenue north and south of the extension of
orange Show Road. As a result, a reevaluation of Orange Show
Road and its easterly extension is requested. This study
would address the relocation of Orange Show Road and the
feasibility of its deletion as a major arterial.
Based on the results of this study, an amendment to the
General Plan may be required.
e RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that the Mayor and Common Council direct the
Planning Division to coordinate with Public Works to
determine a cost estimate for the preparation of a special
study to determine if Orange Show Road and its proposed
easterly extension can be relocated or deleted on the
circulation plan. Planning should also determine cost
estimates for preparation of a general plan amendment, if
required. A time frame for completion should also be
included.
