Attached is the order in which the various sections of the
Budget will be discussed. A time for each department has
been indicated as a means of maintaining a schedule. These
are approximate so please plan to be in the MIC prior to the
time indicated for your budget.
In order to make the schedule work, the format indicated
below will be followed....
1. city Administrator will give overview of each
budget, pointing out some of the highlights, where
cuts have been made, etc. This will be based on
the comments and questions present~d during our
budget preparation meetings.
2. Input will be solicited from Department Heads and
Finance, as appropriate.
3. The Mayor and Council will address such questions
during the process as they may feel necessary. Some
of these questions can probably be anticipated, on
the basis of previously-expressed interest.
4. The Department Head will be asked to make a few
concluding remarks, and these should include any
items which may not already have been covered.
Point up any areas where levels of service may have
to be reduced due to lack of funding.
5. The time-schedule does not allow for flip-chart
presentations and long speeches. Come prepared to
respond to those points raised by the Mayor and
Council Members. Your closing remarks will have to
be framed around what was not asked and things you
believe are important to understanding your major
activities and any problems which might reasonably
be foreseen at this time.
