COPIES:
The preliminary Draft Development Code was prepared to update
and replace Title 18, Subdivisions and Title 19, Zoning of
the Municipal Code. The Development Code is one of the
primary means of implementing the General Plan as discussed
in 11.1 of the Plan. Several elements of the General Plan
include an implementation measure that references inclusion
of specific standards for development in the Development
Code.
The Preliminary Draft Code differs from the General Plan in
several areas where Staff felt that the proposed language
would better implement the General Plan goals, objectives and
policies. If the Mayor and Common Council accept any or all
of the changes to the General Plan as proposed in the
Preliminary Draft Development Code, amendments to the General
Plan will be necessary. Staff has started to review the
differences between the General Plan and Development Code and
will determine potential environmental impacts, prepare an
analysis and make recommendations.
