Clark, City Clerk Subject: Certification of Northwest Project Area Committee Election Results - January 24, 2006 Council Meeting: February 21,2006 Dept: City Clerk Date: January 26, 2006 Synopsis of Previous Council Action: 12/17/2001 The City Council declared as official the results of the Special Election held on November 28,2001, regarding the Northwest Project Area Committee 12/15/2003 The City Council declared as official the results of the Northwest Project Area Committee Election held on November 20, 2003 Recommended Motion: Mavor and Common Council That the Mayor and Common Council declare that the adopted procedures for the Northwest Project Area Committee election held on January 24, 2006, were followed and further declare as official the results of the Northwest Project Area Committee Election, as set forth in the Certificate of Election results dated January 30, 2006, and the accompanying tally sheet. CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Subiect: Certification of the Northwest Project Area Committee Election Results Background: Pursuant to Redevelopment Agency Resolution No. 84-221 and the Bylaws of the Northwest Project Area Committee, the City Clerk conducted a special election on January 24, 2006 for the purpose of electing eleven members to serve on the Twenty-One Member Northwest Project Area Committee. This election took place in the Sixth Ward and was open to all residential tenants, property owners, business owners or designated representative of qualified community based organizations within the Sixth Ward. The polling place was located at the New Hope Family Center, 1505 West Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, and the polling place was open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. A total of 72 voters cast ballots in this election. As the person responsible for conducting the election, I am satisfied that this election was conducted without any irregularity and I recommend that pursuant to Redevelopment Agency Resolution No. 84-221, the Common Council approve and declare as official the election results as shown on the attached Certificate of Election Results dated January 30, 2006 and the accompanying Tally Sheet. The Project Area Committee shall be deemed approved if the Common Council does not affirmatively disapprove it by the expiration of fifteen (15) days after the Common Council receives the official results of the election. The attached tally sheet contains the names of all candidates and the number of votes each received. The following eleven members received the highest number of votes, and with your approval, will constitute the eleven Committee members who have been newly-elected or re- elected to the Northwest Redevelopment Project Area Committee.
