That the Mayor and Common Council set an adjourned regular meeting for Monday, October 24,
2005, at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers for adoption of the General Plan Update and
associated Specific Plans.

ST AFF REPORT
Subject: Set an Adjourned Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Common Council to adopt
the General Plan Update and associated Specific Plans.
Mayor and Common Council Meeting of October 3,2005
BACKGROUND
On July 25,2005, the Mayor and Common Council held ajoint workshop with the
Planning Commission to receive a summary of the Draft Environmental Impact Report
(DEIR) and a recap of the Draft General Plan, followed by a joint workshop on September
19,2005 to discuss the Circulation Element and the Nexus Study. At the latest workshop,
the Council expressed their desires to finalize the General Plan so that staff could begin any
necessary amendments to the Development Code related to implementation of new General
Plan policies.
Staff will request that the Planning Commission set an adjourned regular meeting for
Tuesday, October 11, 2005 for consideration of the General Plan Update and associated
Specific Plans and recommendation to the Mayor and Common Council. Likewise, staff
believes it would be beneficial to the Mayor and Common Council to consider the General
Plan at a special meeting, where adequate time can be devoted to its adoption.

Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and Common Council set an adjourned regular meeting for
Monday, October 24,2005 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers to adopt the General Plan
Update and Associated Specific Plans.
