Staff Report
Subject:
Resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Crest Chevrolet of San
Bernardino for the purchase of two 2006 % ton Standard Cab chassis complete with
Supreme brand truck service body to be utilized by the Police Department.
Background:
The Police Department Property - 10 Division currently utilizes units #2071, and #2094
both are 1997 Ford Aerostar vans, one with 124,517 miles, and the other with 144,026
miles. Both are on the approved FY05/06 Vehicle Replacement List. These nine (9)
year old vehicles have become an economic burden. Therefore, they will be placed in
surplus for auction. Fleet staff requested quotes from four local vendors, and two bids
were received as follows, see Exhibits1 and 2:

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER
TO CREST CHEVROLET FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO 2006 3/4 TON STANDARD
CAB CHASSIS COMPLETE WITH SUPREME TRUCK SERVICE BODIES, TO BE
UTILIZED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
6 OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That Crest Chevrolet has offered a negotiated purchase price of
$24,105.96 including tax for each 2006 :y,. ton Standard Cab Chassis complete with
Supreme Truck Service Body. Pursuant to this determination the Purchasing Manager
is hereby authorized to issue a purchase order to Crest Chevrolet of San Bernardino,
in the amount of $48,211.92.
SECTION 2. The Purchase Order shall reference this Resolution No. 2006-_
and shall read, "Purchase of two 2006 :y,. ton Standard Cab Chassis complete with
Supreme Truck Service Bodies, P.O. not to exceed $48,211.92" and shall incorporate
the terms and conditions of the Contract.
SECTION 3. The authorization to execute the above referenced Purchase
Order is rescinded if not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
