Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
Project was approved in the Prop. 40 Per Capita Grant Program by Resolution 2003-296 and
included in CIF for 2003-04.
January 24,2005, Mayor and Council approved Resolution 2005-19 awarding a Purchase Order
to Inland Acoustics, Inc. to re-roofthe restroom at Anne Shirrells Park.

Staff Report
Subject:
Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino awarding a change
order in the amount of $6,000 to Purchase Order No. 998592 to Inland Acoustics, Inc. for the
repair of water damaged restroom roof at Anne Shirrells Park.
Background:
A purchase order in the amount of $44,650 was awarded to Inland Acoustics, Inc. for the
purchase and installation of three metal roofs: two (2) metal roofs on restrooms located at Anne
Shirrells Park and Speicher Park and (1) metal roof on picnic shelter located at Nicholson Park.
The restroom located at Anne Shirrells Park has severe water damage to the roof. The contractor
could not view the condition of the wood during the job walk/bidding process. It was only
uncovered when the existing roofing material was removed. After removal of the composite
shingles, the wood ship laps at three (3) areas of the roof and three (3) rafters had severe water
damage. Removal and replacement of plywood sheeting is required to replace the damaged
rafters.
Bids for this project came in $85,453.75 under budget; therefore, a portion of this balance will be
used to fund this change order.
Financial Impact:
Funding for the re-roofing is from Prop. 40 Per Capita State Grant Program. The project is
included in the 2004/2005 CIP budget, PROS-OS. PROS-OS has a total project cost of $223,200
that includes this project and a purchase order for I gazebo and 4 picnic sl\elters in the amount of
$93,096.25. Bids for both projects combined came in at $137,746.25 leaving a remaining
$85,453.75 which will be used to cover this additional cost.
Recommendation:
Adopt Resolution.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Inland Acoustics, Inc. be awarded a change order in the amount of
$6.000 to Purchase Order No. 998592 for the repair of water damaged restroom roof at Anne
Shirrells Park.
SECTION 2. The authorization to execute the above referenced Annual Purchase
Order is rescinded if the purchase order is not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of
