Staff Report
Subject:
Resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Shaver Auto Center for the
purchase of three right hand drive Jeep Wranglers to be utilized by the Facilities
Department Parking Control Division.
Background:
The Facilities Department utilizes vehicles #624, #622, and #623, which are all "Go-4"
scooters. One is a 1993 model, and two are 1997 models, these units are used
throughout the City for Parking control, and are on the approved FY04/05 Vehicle
Replacement List. These three vehicles have become an economic burden, and
specific chassis parts are no longer available, therefore, will be placed in surplus for
auction. During FY 03-04 one Jeep Wrangler was purchased as a replacement and has"
proven to be more versatile and cost effective for the operation. Staff requested bids
from five vendors, 5 Jeep-Chrysler dealers were contacted from the surrounding area
and three bids were received as follows, see Exhibit 1 and 2:

Recommendation:
Adopt resolution.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE ORDER
TO SHAVER AUTO CENTER FOR THREE RIGHT HAND DRIVE JEEP
WRANGLERS TO BE UTILIZED BY THE FACILITIES DEPARTMENT PARKING
CONTROL DIVISION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Shaver Auto Center submitted the lowest quote for the
negotiated purchase of three right hand drive Jeep Wranglers in the total amount of
$70,448.07. Pursuant to this determination the Purchasing Manager is hereby
11 authorized to issue a purchase order to Shaver Auto Center in the amount of
12 $70,448.07.
13 SECTION 2. The Purchase Order shall reference this Resolution No.2005-_
and shall read, "Shaver Auto Center - Purchase of three right hand drive Jeep
Wranglers" P.O. not to exceed $70,448.07 and shall incorporate the terms and
conditions of the purchase order.
SECTION 3. The authorization to execute the above referenced Purchase
Order is rescinded if not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
