Staff Report
Subject:
Resolution authorizing the execution of a purchase order to Victor Buick-GMC Truck,
Inc. for the purchase of a GMC TC6500 V8 chassis, including a dump body to be
utilized by the Parks and Recreation Department.
Background:
The Parks and Recreation Department utilizes vehicle #739, a 1982 Ford F700 2-ton
flat bed dump truck, for maintenance of City parks throughout the City, and is on the
approved FY04/05 Vehicle Replacement List. This 22-year-old vehicle has become an
economic burden, and specific chassis parts are no longer available, therefore, it will be
placed in surplus for auction.
As a result of the ongoing Fleet Division Vehicle Utilization Survey it was determined .
that this unit will be used solely by the Parks and Recreation Department. It is used on
a daily basis and on weekends as needed to haul such things as bleachers and clay for
ball fields, and to tow a trailer with various pieces of equipment such as Backhoe,
trencher, etc.
As there are no local vendors who sell this type of equipment, Fleet staff developed
specifications and a formal bid #RFQ F-05-34 was issued through the purchasing
division and three bids were received as follows, see Exhibits 1 and 2:

The total cost includes one (1) 2005 GMC Truck Model #TC6500 - 295HP V8 8.1 Liter
gas engine, a 48" high dump body with removable plywood gates. This vehicle is on the
Cal/EPA - Air Resources Board 2005 California Certified Vehicles list.
Financial Impact:
Funds for this purchase are available in the FY2004/2005 Account No. 635-341-5701,
Motor Vehicles.
Recommendation:
Adopt resolution.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Victor Buick-GMC Truck, submitted the best and lowest
quote for a GMC VB chassis and dump body in the total amount of $43,635.92.
Pursuant to this determination, the Purchasing Manager is hereby authorized to issue
a purchase order to Victor Buick-GMC Truck, Inc. in the amount of $43,635.92.
SECTION 2. The Purchase Order shall reference this Resolution No.2005-_
and shall read, not to exceed $43,635.92 and shall incorporate the terms and
conditions of the purchase order.
SECTION 3. The authorization to execute the above referenced Purchase Order is
rescinded if not issued within sixty (60) days of the passage of this resolution.
