Daniels to provide management services at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex for the period of June 1, 2005 through May 31, 2006. Background: In February 2004, the City Council approved a one-year contract with Bruce Daniels to provide comprehensive management services at the soccer complex. The agreement (attached) included an option to extend the agreement for three (3) one -year periods at the mutual consent of both parties. The attached Amendment No. 1 would allow the City to continue this agreement with Bruce Daniels for a period of one year with the two (2) one-year options to extend the agreement at the mutual consent of both parties. This consulting agreement names Mr. Daniels as the lead, and includes two associates. One of the associates, Kit Vigil, performs primarily administrative functions including scheduling, office management, applications, contracts, and liaison to CYSA and Coast Soccer League (two major users of the soccer complex). Bela Bircsak is the other associate and is responsible for marketing tournaments and events and elite soccer development programs including international events. '\ During the current contract, Mr. Daniels has added the following new events to the Soccer Complex schedule: LA Galaxy LA Cup 2005, LA Galaxy Clasico Adult Tournament 2005, LA Galaxy Youth Tournament 2005, A YSO Arrowhead Cup 2005, Police Athletic League Tournament 2006, Ultimate (frisbee) Adult Regional Tournament 2004, Hansen's Cup (Thanksgiving); State Recreational Tournament; PCI Tournament (Germany, P A, No CAL Olympic Development Program (ODP), So CAL ODP), CYSA ODP Training 2005, California Soccer Association Adult Select Tournament 2005, Copa Ford (Azteca SC) 2005. In addition, six new vendors were recruited, which in turn will generate additional revenue. Mr. Daniels' efforts have been significant during the initial year of the contract. Over the course of the next year additional revenue and benefits from his efforts will be realized. Mr. Daniels has performed in a satisfactory manner and was very successful in recruiting new clients, new events and improving the appearance of the facility. Mr. Daniels will continue to be responsible for developing client incentive packages, facility maintenance and marketing coordination, facility management, marketing through print and electronic media, retention and expansion of tournaments and events, economic projections, facility planning and development, community relations, supervision of part time personnel and overall facility management. ,- --1 The agreement is for one year and includes annual compensation of $85,000 paid in 12 equal monthly installments, expenses not to exceed $4000 annually and a 10% commission on direct revenue from new events that meet identified targets. Direct revenue is defined as gross revenue received by the City from the specific task or project, including admissions, parking, vendors, tournament fees at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex or other venue(s) where the specific activity is taking place. During the extended agreement period, Mr. Daniels will increase field usage via tournaments, league play, practices, training and other events, which will increase revenue. He will also be aggressively seeking commercial sponsorship and grant opportunities. To date, Mr. Daniels has received $73,185.72 for the current agreement with the City. At the end of his 12-month contract the City will have spent $80,268. Financial Impact: During the next contract year, costs are anticipated to be $85,000, plus the cost of expenses (not- to-exceed $4,000 annually), and a 10% commission if defmed goals are achieved.
