STAFF REPORT To: Honorable Mayor and Members of the Common Council/Community Development Commission Rachel G. Clark, CMC, City Clerk Request for budget amendment to transfer $63,000 from the General Fund Budget Reserve to cover cost of the Special Election held on November 2. 2004 FROM: RE: BACKGROUND On May 17, 2004, the Mayor and Common Council adopted Resolution No. 2005-135 calling a Special Municipal Election on a proposed new City Charter and requesting that said election be consolidated with the November 2, 2004, Statewide Presidential General Election conducted by the County of San Bernardino. At the time the FY 2004-05 budget was being prepared, no election had been officially scheduled and there was no estimate for the cost of the election. It was discussed that there was a possibility that there may be a special election in November or possibly March of 2005 and the consensus was that if a special election was required that funds would have to be allocated at that time. The County Registrar of Voters has submitted its final billing and we need to have a budget amendment to transfer $63,000 from the Budget Reserve to Account No. 001- 032-5502 (Professional and Contractual Services) to cover the cost of the Special Municipal Election held on November 2, 2004. Financiallmoact: Transfer $63,000 from the Budget Reserve to Account No. 001-032-5502 (Professional and Contractual Services) to cover the cost of the Special Municipal Election. RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Mayor and Common Council authorize the Director of Finance to amend the FY 2004-05 budget by transferring $63,000 from the Budget Reserve to Account No. 001-032-5502 (Professional and Contractual Services) to cover the cost of the Special Municipal Election held on November 2, 2004.
