Clark, CMC, City Clerk November 15. 2004 Request to Approve Local Appointments List BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of San Bernardino has boards, bureaus, committees, and commissions which advise and assist the Mayor and Council in dealing with specific issues. Members are nominated by members of the Common Council and appointed by the Mayor, with approval of the Common Council. In accordance with the provisions of Government Code Section 54972, on or before December 31 of each year, the legislative body or Common Council must post a list of all ongoing boards, bureaus, committees, and commissions which are appointed by the Mayor and Common Council. This list must include which terms will expire during the next calendar year with the name of the incumbent appointee, the date of appointment, the date the term expires, and the necessary qualifications for the positions. Government Code Section 54973 requires that the Local Appointments List shall be made available to members of the public for a reasonable fee which shall not exceed actual cost and that the public library with the largest service population within its jurisdiction receive a copy of the list. It is our intent to provide the List at local libraries as well as post it on the City's web page. The attached Local Appointments List has been prepared by the City Clerk's Office, and it shows the names of incumbents whose terms will expire in 2004, any vacancies, and qualifications for the positions. RECOMMENDED MOTION: That the Mayor and Common Council approve the Local Appointments List of all regular and ongoing boards, commissions, and committees and direct that the City Clerk send a copy of the List to the Feldheym Library, pursuant to Government Code Section 54973.
