Background: The Police Department currently utilizes the Kawasaki KZ 1000 motorcycle for traffic control throughout the City; six of these are on the approved FY05/06 Vehicle Replacement List. These have become an economic burden, and specific parts are no longer available, therefore, they will be placed in surplus for auction. They are as follows.. Unit #1006 1999 Kawasaki 51,000 miles #1012 1996 Kawasaki 54,000 miles #1013 1997 Kawasaki 63,170 miles #1014 1997 Kawasaki 67,295 miles #1015 1996 Kawasaki 50,331 miles #1016 1996 Kawasaki 57,137 miles Kawasaki no longer manufactures a police motorcycle; therefore Fleet and Police Department staff conducted a study to determine a replacement for the Kawasaki. As a result of the study it was determined that the Honda ST1300P is the best unit for the Police Department's needs, and technical specifications were prepared for bid. Notices for bid # RFQ F-06-10 were sent to ten (10) vendors, the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, advertised on the City's Web Page and in the San Bernardino County Sun Newspaper. Police Calibrated, - Mounted to the handlebars to minimize shock and vibration. 15. MIRRORS Are to be provided per the California Motor Vehicle Code. - Handlebar mounted on right and left side. SERVICE/ PARTS MANUALS Two (2) copies of each (Parts and Service) manuals are to be supplied at the time of delivery. CD/DVD manuals are acceptable 21. VEHICLE REGISTRATION All vendors shall submit a photocopy of their current California dealers license as required by section 1700 of the California Vehicle Code as part of their bid ~ package. Enter license number and license expiration date in the right hand column. Successful bidder will be required to furnish all DMV registration documents and licenses for exempt plates. The City will provide the necessary signatures for exempt plate forms. 22. WARRANTY Warranty is to be standard three year(36 month) t unlimited mileage limited warranty. , Attach optional extended warranty or service agreement if available and quote prices for each separately. 23. DELIVERY SCHEDULE Delivery is to be coordinated and scheduled through the Fleet Manager.
