Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
November 21,2005 - Resolution No. 2005-385 of the Mayor and Common Council of San
Bernardino authorizing the execution of a contract with and issuance of a Purchase Order to
Gray/I.C.E. Builders Inc. for the Center for Individual Development (CID) Natatorium roof
replacement project for the City of San Bernardino.
Recommended Motion:
Authorize the Director of Finance to amend the FY 05-06 budget by transferring $90,000 from
243-363-5504-7559 to 243-363-5504-7668 for the CID roof replacement. In addition delete the
remaining revenue and expenditures originally appropriated for the Al Guhin Park project
(PR05-12) and place the remaining Park Construction funds in the amount of$160,000 back into
the fund balance to be used for other projects in the future. .--/// /_/.' _

Subject:
Authorize the Director of Finance to amend the FY 05-06 budget to add a roof replacement
project for the Center for Individual Development (Cm) Natatorium in the amount of$90,000.
Background:
At the November 21, 2005 Council meeting staff received authorization from the Mayor and
Council to execute a contract and issue a purchase order to Gray/LC.E. Builders to replace the
cm roof for a total estimated amount of $90,000. This project will remove the roof over the
natatorium and replace the wood substructure as needed. Also included, as part of this project is
the installation of interlocks on the pool equipment so that the ventilation equipment runs
automatically.
A budget amendment is now needed to authorize the Director of Finance to amend the FY 05-06
budget to add this crn roof replacement project. The funds that have been identified to be used
for cm roof project are Park Construction Funds that were originally appropriated to be used as
grant match funds for the Al Guhin Park Baseball Fields. The Department received notification
that this proj ect was not selected for grant funding therefore, the Park Construction Funds that
were appropriated as the matching funds are available for other uses. It is recommended that
$90,000 of these funds be used for the cm roof replacement project and the remaining $160,000
be put back into the Park Construction fund balance to be used for other projects in the future.
Financial Impact:
Since the Al Guhin Park project was not funded the Park Construction funds used for the grant
match are available for other uses. Using $90,000 of these funds for the cm roof replacement
will leave $160,000 to be put back into the Park Construction fund balance to be used on other
projects in the future. Approval of a budget amendment is needed to reflect these changes in the
City's FY 05-06 budget. There is no impact to the City's General Fund for these proposed
changes in the FY 05-06 budget.

remaining revenue and expenditures originally appropriated for the Al Guhin Park project
(PR05-l2) and place the remaining Park Construction funds in the amount of$160,000 back into
the fund balance to be used for other projects in the future.
