OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Subiect: Authorization to declare Pleasant Hill Drive as a through highway from and including Baldridge Canyon Drive to Palm Avenue. Backl!:round: The Traffic Engineering Section of the Development Services Department received a request from a citizen, via the Council Office, to evaluate the intersections of Pleasant Hill Drive at Baldridge Canyon Drive and Pleasant Hill Drive at Spring Meadow Lane for I-way stop signs. Traffic Engineering Staff evaluated the request. These intersections are "T" type intersections that are currently uncontrolled. They are located adjacent to each other in an entirely residential area that was recently annexed by the City. Due to sight visibility limitations caused by landscaping and roadway geometry, the intersection of Pleasant Hills Drive and Baldridge Canyon Drive meets warrants for a I-way stop. The same is true, to a lesser extent, for the intersection of Pleasant Hill Drive and Spring Meadow Lane, however, for consistency, it is recommended that a I-way stop also be implemented at this intersection. Consequently, it is recommended that stop signs be installed on Baldridge Canyon Drive and Spring Meadow Lane's approaches to Pleasant Hills Drive. Declaring Pleasant Hill Drive a "through highway" from and including Baldridge Canyon Drive to Palm A venue will allow staff to install these stop signs. Financial Imoact: The estimated cost of $ 600.00 for installing the new stop signs will come from Account No. 001-187-5111 (Signing and Striping Materials) Recommendation: Adopt Resolution.
