Description: Street Maintenance Finance: Council Notes: Or. ~ I>OS~7" Agenda Item NO.~ 1/1/ IJS CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Subject: Authorization to change the time limit parking from I-hour to 30 minutes on the east side of "E" Street between Court Street and 4th Street. Backeround: The Development Services Department received a request, via the Mayor's Office, to evaluate the possibility of changing the time limit parking from I-hour to 30 minutes on the east side of "E" Street between Court Street and 4th Street. Some of the businesses located within this area feel that patrons of their businesses will be better served if this change takes place. There are eight businesses that currently operate within this section of "E" Street. Traffic Engineering Staff conducted a survey of these businesses to determine if they favor the requested change. Basically, five businesses are in favor of the change and three are against it. Two of the businesses that are against the change are hair salons, the other is a jewelry and loan business. These businesses feel that Y, an hour is not enough time for their patrons to conduct business at their shops (it was also commented that sometimes even an hour is not enough). Fortunately, there is longer-term parking available in the immediate area, including parking on Court Street and "E" Street, and in two parking structures near this location. In view of the demonstrated support for the change by the majority of the businesses within this area and the availability oflonger-term parking, staff recommends that the request be approved. Patrons of the businesses that are against the change will be able to use or continue using the uurestricted parking areas of the City Hall Parking Structure, the Caltrans Parking Structure, and available parking stalls at Court Street Square where parking is generally limited to 2-hours. Financial Impact: The estimated cost of $ 500.00 for installing the new parking signs will come from Account No. 001-402-5111 (Street Maintenance) Recommendation: Adopt Resolution. c RESOLUTION NO. -CO rFY RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AMENDING RESOLUTION 1 NO. 8234 ENTITLED, IN PART, "A RESOLUTION...
