BACKGROUND: In October, 2003, this office received a request for the vacation ofa portion of Mountain View Avenue, north of San Bernardino A venue, south of Riverview Drive. The request was submitted by C. Dan Jesus on behalf ofMr. Parviz Razavian, the owner of California Steel Services, located at 1212 Mountain View Avenue (APN No. 0280-312-37). Mr. Razavian also owns APN Nos. 0280-312-06,0280-312-07, and 0280-312-08, which are all contiguous vacant parcels. He is proposing to construct a 100,000 square foot industrial building on these properties. Although the street width north of the area proposed to be vacated currently has a street width of 36.25 feet from the centerline of the street, this vacation would result in a 50 foot half width for Mountain View A venue, which would match the east side of the street. Staff is recommending that the vacation be extended to San Bernardino Avenue in order to be consistent with the required width of 100 feet for an arterial street. If authorization to proceed is given, all affected City departments, utilities and property owners will be contacted for comments or any possible conflicts. Part of the proceedings will include the determination of the future necessity of this street for public right of way purposes. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. Applicant has paid the $1000 processing fee. RECOMMENDA nON: Staff recommends that authorization to proceed with the proposed vacation be given and that Plan No. 11001 be approved. No Scale 5th St. .; > <{ Mill SI. . o c o u . Q.
