CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Staff Report Subiect: Reclassify position of one (I) Customer Service Representative to position of Senior Customer Service Representative in the Facilities Management Department. Back2round: Previously, the Personnel Committee approved the addition of a Customer Service Representative position to the Facilities Management Department due to increased office workload. The position of Customer Service Representative provides support to management staff in the Parking Enforcement Division of the Facilities Management Department. This position assigns specific tasks to staff members, trains, instructs, and reviews the work assigned to staff and insures that acceptable work methods are practiced. Currently, the position of Customer Service Representative is responsible for the supervision of four (4) part-time positions in the Parking Enforcement Division. The Parking Enforcement Division is required to maintain all current and pending parking enforcement regulations to monitor and ensure that the City is in compliance with all state and federal requirements. Currently, the employee In the position processes over 24,000 citations for the City of San Bernardino including citations issued by San Bernardino Fire, Police, and Code Compliance Departments. The Customer Service Representative position is responsible for scheduling citation hearings for vehicle abatement and citations issued in San Bernardino, Colton, Redlands, Rialto, Lama Linda, and Yucaipa, including follow-up correspondence to citizens. In addition, this position is assigned as the liaison for the City in coordinating information to Parking Ticket Services (PTS) which processes the notifications to citizens and the DMV for the City of San Bernardino. After closely reviewing the duties of the position, it is recommended we reclassify the position and the incumbent of Customer Service Representative to the position of Senior Customer Service Representative to more accurately reflect the scope of duties. This classification is an existing classification in the City e Financial Impact: Reclassify the position of one (I) Customer Service Representative, Range 1337, $2384- $2897/month to position of Senior Customer Service Representative, Range 1357, $2634- $320l/month. Budgeted Customer Service Reo Salary $34,540 Benefits 9,879 Total $44,419 Prooosed Sr. Customer Service Reo Salary $36,588 Benefits 10.212 Total $46,800 The annual cost for this reclassification is $2,400. The cost for FY 2005-06 is estimated at $2,100, which will be funded by salary savings in the Facilities Management Department.
