STAFF REPORT
This office received a request from "Santa Fe" to Quitclaim a certain Sewer
Pipeline easement, located across their property at the Southwest corner of
Spruce and "I" Streets. Santa Fe has owned the property since the easement
was acquired in 1957.
The easement was specifically for sewer pipeline purposes and did not
include any rights for any other public utilities, therefore, it is not
appropriate to vacate this easement.
The City no longer uses the sewer pipeline which lies within the easement
area, and new sewer construction in the area has rendered it of no further
use to the City.
Since the existence of this easement conflicts with Santa Fe' s Intermodal
Main Line Expansion Project currently underway at the location of this
property, we recommend that the attached Resolution directing the execution
of a Quitclaim Deed be adopted.
